This webinar is intended to teach physical therapists and physical therapy assistants considerations for the patient who is pregnant and experiencing pain. Topics will include pain at the pubic symphysis, coccyx, and round ligament, meralgia parasthetica, and vulvar varicosities. This course incorporates a basic review of how anatomy and physiology change during pregnancy and can contribute to these pain conditions, examination and treatment options, and tips for birth preparation.
Objectives:
Discuss the anatomy and physiologic changes that occur during pregnancy and how they can contribute to pain.
Understand screening and red flags of pelvic pain during pregnancy
Define common pelvic pain conditions that can occur during pregnancy.
Describe various interventions to reduce pain during pregnancy and provide options for labor and birth.
